How far in advance do I need to book a wedding DJ?

One of the questions I get asked all the time is, "how far in advance do I need to book my wedding DJ?" Some people are shocked to hear that we actually can get booked up to 2 years in advance!

However, there is no short answer. Let's look at this in more detail.

how early to book wedding DJ

Peak and off-peak wedding season.

How far in advance you need to book comes down to how far in advance other people are booking. Obviously, if you are getting married in a year’s time on the 3rd of October and someone else is getting married that same day, all you need to do is book before they do.

It’s a bit like the joke about the bear in the woods with the two Hikers. The one hiker gets down to do up his shoelaces, and the other hiker says “forget it, you will never outrun a bear”, to which the second hiker replies, “I don’t need to outrun the bear. I only have to outrun you”.

Off-peak and on peak season will give you a good idea about how early people tend to book their wedding DJ

During the peak months of May-September, people do tend to book up to a year and a half in advance. Off-peak, when there is less demand, most people still book about nine months to a year early.

Of course, having said this, I have had people call me up the last minute in the summer and ask if I am free for a month’s time and it just so happens I am.

I have, however, had more people call me up a month early and I have had to turn them away as I am already booked.

If you leave it till the last minute, you are risking having a sub par wedding DJ.

How can we make sure we book wedding dj cardiff first?

The first option is to call up and just book. Once your deposit is paid, you are officially booked in. No one else can book me on the day.

The second option is to get in touch and just enquire if I am free on the day. I make a note of every wedding DJ enquiry that comes through.

If I get a second enquiry before the first query has officially booked, I always send out an email to inform the couple that I have received a second enquiry.

I believe in first come first serve, so I always like to give my couples who enquired first, a “first dibs on my service”.

In conclusion, one and a half years is usually a safe amount of time to book in advance to make sure you have got the best Wedding DJ’s in Cardiff booked for your wedding. ☺
